Christian Alliance for Orphans (christianalliancefororphans.org) is just what it sounds like; a group of Christians, in an Alliance (over 100 churches and organizations) to raise support for Orphans around the world. In short, to “defend the fatherless” (Isaiah 1:17).
I am writing this post as part of the Summit 9 Blogger Giveaway. Check out all the details at www.summit9.org.
Orphan care is important. Whether it is through adoption, foster care, or mission trips, it all matters, it all helps. That is what Christian Alliance for Orphans (CAFO) supports. They have an annual ‘summit’ to raise awareness for orphans. In May of 2013, the ninth such meeting will be held in Nashville, TN. This post is about why I want to be there.
My parents attended Summit 7 two years ago, just before we adopted my younger brother. Summit 8 happened to occur when we were unable to attend in person but watched the live web stream. Now, I would like to go to this year’s summit for several reasons.
- I whole-heatedly support Orphan Care. Besides the fact it is biblical and humane it is just plain fun. Summit is an amazing gathering of like minded individuals.
- There are going to be some great speakers and musicians. Including Randy Alcorn, David Platt, Michele Bachmann and music by Steven Curtis Chapman, George Dennehy, and many others. See the full list here: www.summit9.org/speakers/
- It’s a way to show my support. The registration fee helps support CAFO’s work around the world and being at the conference lets others know that you care about orphans.
See you in Nashville on May 2nd and 3rd!
