NHD 2013 Districts

On Tuesday, the district competition for National History Day was held. My partner, Joel, and I entered a ‘Junior Group Website’ about how the Dust Bowl was a turning point in history. We took first place!

We got some group pictures by the welcome sign with Joel’s brother, Justin, and his partner, William, who won first place for Junior Group Documentary.

Then, we took a silly one:

Which, rather strangely, looks a lot like this picture Justin found:

Grammy award winning band "Mumford and Sons"

All four of us will now compete at the state competition on April. I’ll let you know how it goes! You can also see this video of us winning.

I can’t provide you with the link to the website until all competitions are over, to prevent our ideas from being stolen.

They sing a tad bit better. Oddly they have a song titled, “Dust Bowl”. Its no Guthrie.

“This dusty barren land had given all it could yield
I’ve been kicked off my land at the age of sixteen
And I have no idea where else my heart could have been
I placed all my trust at the foot of this hill
And now I am sure my heart can never be still”
