As I was thinking about what I was going to put up after the election, I collected a series of other people’s opinions. What other people, people who generally know more than I do, say about what happened. I collected 5. So fasten your seat belts, here we go.
1. Conservative radio personality Rush Limbaugh said:
” Conservatism, in my humble opinion, did not lose [Tuesday night]. It’s just very difficult to beat Santa Claus. It is practically impossible to beat Santa Claus. People are not going to vote against Santa Claus, especially if the alternative is being your own Santa Claus.
Now, everybody is jumping on Romney’s chain today, getting in his chili. Look, he may have not been the most optimal candidate, but he’s a fine man. He would have been great for this country. Mitt Romney and his family would have been the essence of exactly what this country needs. But what was Romney’s recipe? Romney’s recipe was the old standby: American route to success, hard work. That gets sneered at. I’m sorry. In a country of children where the option is Santa Claus or work, what wins? And say what you want, but Romney did offer a vision of traditional America. In his way, he put forth a great vision of traditional America, and it was rejected. It was rejected in favor of a guy who thinks that those who are working aren’t doing enough to help those who aren’t. And that resonated.
The Obama campaign was about small stuff. War on Women, binders, Big Bird, this kind of stuff. The Romney campaign was about big things, was about America. It’s mind-boggling to go through these exit polls. You want to hear a statistic that is somewhat surprising? Romney received two and a half million fewer votes than McCain did. Now, who would have called that? Who in the world would have? I think Obama’s vote tally was down ten million from 2008, and we still lost. We lost 50 to 48 nationally. We were not able to build a turnout model that looked like 2004. Very puzzling.”
2. Also, in 2016 the vote will most likely go to the Republican candidate.
How do I know? I don’t; I’m just guessing but statistically there has only been four times when there were two consecutive democrat presidents. (Jackson-Van Buren, Pierce-Buchanan, Roosevelt-Truman, Kennedy-Johnson) and never have there been three in a row.
3. A friend of mom’s on facebook, Rachel B., put up this video, yesterday.
A user named John H., commented and said,
“Very appropriate…Americans stepped off a cliff last night; we now have the privilege, as God’s stewards of the Gospel, to step in and break their fall…”
An interesting view for us Christians.
4. “Free America 101” also stated about the results.
This article is by Steve D. Huff:
The history of mankind is full of examples of tyrants and dictators who came to power with the cheers of the people. In times of trouble, people will yield their freedom and liberty to a politician who convinces them he has the answers even when he is principally the one responsible for their predicament. A majority is not always morally right and many nations have fallen into oppression while chanting their support to those who would oppress them. Hitler won the hearts and minds of Nazi Germany and led that nation, and nearly the whole world, into its darkest period in history. I’m not suggesting that Barack Obama is Hitler or that his policies would be entirely as evil. But I am suggesting that his victory is not necessarily a moral victory. I am suggesting that his course for America is not the path to freedom or prosperity. The record of Obama’s first term, and his plans for this new term, all suggest that American may be facing her darkest hour.
In times like this, a patriot can pray and a patriot can participate. This is not a time to sit back and hope we can regroup in four years. We must stay positive and fight for our constitutionally intended liberties every single day. As the founder of Free America 101, I pledge to work tirelessly to bring you hope and a practical battle plan so we can fight back against every idea, policy and action of government that would do us harm. America has seen dark days before in the fight against Socialism, Big Government and all of the associated problems. Sometimes, when everything seems the darkest, God shines through and brings healing to the nation. You may be the person he chooses to work through. I trust God to do his part. I will do my part. Will you do yours?”
5. And lastly, though not entirely related to the election, is a radio podcast by Steve Southerland.
The Complete Story: Steve Southerland
Mr. Southerland won Florida’s 2nd congressional district; the first republican to do so in over 100 years. His website is here:
So, in conclusion,
We can’t just ‘move on’ like nothing happened; it was a great loss. But we still have to keep our feet, fight back and remember that the republicans have the house, 49 seats in the senate, and most importantly, God is still God. He will still take care of us if we acknowledge His name.
God Bless America
